YMS School Policy Agreement

Welcome to YMS. Our aim is to provide a positive, professional, and inspiring learning environment where every student can grow with confidence and enjoyment. By enrolling in lessons, parents and students agree to the following policies.

Welcome Pack · £50

All new students are required to purchase a £50 Yumi’s Music School Welcome Pack when joining the school. The pack includes essential materials to help each student get started with their lessons at YMS.

1. Lesson Fees & Payments

* Payments will be made on the 1st of each month via the agreed payment method.

* Late payments may result in lessons being suspended until payment is received.

* Lesson Fees & Attendance

Lessons for students under 18 follow our academic-year teaching calendar.

Rather than charging different amounts each month depending on how many teaching weeks fall within that month, the total annual tuition fee is divided into equal monthly payments of £128. This means your payment stays the same each month, including during school holidays.

The monthly fee reserves your child’s regular lesson time and place at Yumi’s Music School for the academic year.

There are no additional charges in longer teaching months, and payments are not reduced during months containing school holidays.

As each student has a permanently reserved weekly lesson slot, lessons missed by the student cannot be rescheduled or carried over.

Adult Students

Adult students are required to take a minimum of 4 lessons per month. If you need to reschedule a lesson, please speak directly with your teacher to arrange an alternative time, subject to availability.

Books & Learning Materials

Any books or learning materials required for lessons will be purchased by Yumi’s Music School on the student’s behalf. The cost will be added to the student’s invoice and automatically charged to the registered payment card.

Parents do not need to purchase lesson materials separately.

2. Attendance & Missed Lessons

* Students are expected to attend lessons regularly and arrive on time.

* Lessons missed by students are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled unless agreed by the teacher in exceptional circumstances.

* If a student arrives late, the lesson will still finish at the scheduled time.

* If the teacher must cancel a lesson, a make-up lesson or credit will be provided.

* No make up lessons will be provided unless it has been scheduled well in advance.

* As we reserve teaching rooms, pianos and dedicated teacher time for each student, we are unfortunately unable to offer rescheduled lessons.

3. Notice of Absence

* Please inform YMS as early as possible if a student cannot attend.

* Advance notice is appreciated, although missed lessons remain chargeable.

* Students have an option to attend online instead of cancelling an in person lesson.

4. Practice Expectations

* Consistent practice at home is essential for progress.

* Students are expected to complete assigned practice and homework between lessons.

* Parents are encouraged to support younger children with regular practice routines.

5. Behaviour & Respect

* Students are expected to behave respectfully towards teachers, instruments, equipment, and others.

* Disruptive or inappropriate behaviour may result in lessons being discontinued.

* We kindly ask all students and families to treat our teachers and staff with courtesy and respect at all times. We are committed to providing a supportive and respectful learning environment, and we expect the same consideration in return.

* We are committed to maintaining a safe, comfortable and respectful environment for both our students and teachers. If a teacher feels uncomfortable or that appropriate boundaries have not been respected, YMS reserves the right to discontinue lessons. In such circumstances, any remaining prepaid lessons will be refunded in full.

6. Trial Lessons

* Trial lessons are non-refundable once booked.

* Following the trial, ongoing lesson spaces are offered subject to availability.

7. Lesson Environment

* Parents of younger children are welcome to briefly come inside for drop-off and collection.

* When the lesson begins, the teacher will come to open the front door.

* To maintain a focused learning environment, parents are kindly asked to leave during the lesson unless otherwise agreed.

8. Parking

* Parking is available at Christopher’s car park for parents and students attending lessons.

9. Online Lessons

* Students attending online lessons are responsible for ensuring they have a suitable device, internet connection, and quiet learning environment.

* Technical issues on the student’s side may not be eligible for additional lesson time.

10. Termination of Lessons

* YMS reserves the right to discontinue lessons if policies are repeatedly not followed.

* We ask Parents wishing to stop lessons provide written 4 weeks notice in advance.

11. Media & Safeguarding

* Occasionally, photos or short videos may be taken for educational or promotional purposes. Permission will always be requested in advance.

* Personal information and payment details are handled securely and will never be shared with third parties without consent.
